8605 - Old Clocks and Watches & their Makers

BRITTEN F.J.

FIRST CHOICE by Antoine Simonin. An exceptionally valuable book for its content of course also by the fact that it contains handwritten corrections by the author and last but not least it has just been beautifully restored. A great treasure for any library. Being an Historical and Descriptive Account of the different Styles of Clocks and Watches of the past, in England and Abroad. To which is added a list of eleven thousand makers. Special hand-written exemplar with notes written by Britten F.J. or Baillie forming part as editorial corrections for the 4th edition. Becomes a manuscript, all handwritten on extra paper inserted among the pages. Very rare Originally from the private library of Granville Hugh Baillie and Malcolm Gardner. With a dedication by Malcolm Gardner to Alfred Wild (Teacher in the Chaux-de-Fonds Watchmaking school).
